July 25 – Rattle my brains and secret treasure!
Thursday, July 26th, 2007Forgot to mention, Scouter Mike Aubé gave me a whistlestop tour the night before of the Gagetown forces base – wow! Quite the facilities.
After a great breakfast at the Kilburn House, I did a few interviews, one in French with Radio
Vatican – a journalist there found about the Scout Velotour project and emailed me to arrange the interview, which will be broadcast later.
I took the TransCanada Trail across
Fredericton, which is a beautiful trail. I decided to take it all the way to Oromocto. Thank goodness that Trusty is a hardy horse because about half of the 20 km is just old railway ballast, ie *very* coarse gravel. Yeesh. More evidence of ATV’s or motorbikes being the most frequent users as well.
Once in Oromocto, I gave a talk to a group of kids at a Survival Camp offered by the Oromocto Fire Dept – scouter Mike Aubé was the leader of today’s activities and he put on a great set of challenges where they had to gather the ingredients for bannock bread at a series of stations on an island that happened to be well-decorated with cowdung! Great fun and a great opportunity for kids to learn about scouting activities! I’ll be sure to get some of those videoclips up on the website.
