I’m not sure until the day is over - still pondering that one!
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:50 am
This is a fantastic website that uses gizmos to engage students at school and from home. You can input class lists and have the program assess and evaluate the students understanding of the content they are engaged in.
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:50 am
Keeping my options opened until the end of the day!
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:50 am
I think I’d like to do more with webquests and virtual tours with the kids… As for myself, I’d like to make better use of my blog (we’ll see how organized I get this year!)
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:50 am
I think the idea of using a blog to work on a novel study would be very interesting- extending the discussion outside of the classroom should help the students become more engaged with each other and the class.
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:51 am
I’ll let you know after I get a better sense of what is out there!
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:53 am
I really don’t know. I have very little experience using the web except for googling and using unitedstreaming.com.
July 23rd, 2008 at 10:53 am
I teach Chemistry and biology in high school so i’d love to do virtual dissections with my students so that they can do a cleaner and more accurate job when they are using an actual specimen.
Tutorials, online quizzes and Webquests are also something i’d like to incorporate into my teaching.
July 24th, 2008 at 4:42 pm
I hope to use blogs, IM and text messaging to engage students in writing at school.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:17 am
I’d like to use podcasts.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:17 am
audio development is something I would like to use
August 14th, 2008 at 10:18 am
I am involved with training and would like to see what Web 2.0 has to offer. There is so much out there, it is great to have the opportunity to see some of the best things that are out there.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:18 am
I also would like to learn more about Dreamweaver and databases, then develop a package to give out to the students
August 14th, 2008 at 10:19 am
I always need web applications that have material in French since I teach French. Although there is an abundance of material in English, that is not always the case in French.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:19 am
Definitely going to have a website, but anything else I’m not sure of yet. I’ll find out about lots of stuff today, though!
Question: for geography and French I can see myself doing some things on the web, but not so sure for math…
August 14th, 2008 at 10:19 am
I’d like to incorporate as many as possible in order to ensure that pre-service teachers are aware of the ‘new’ and ‘popular’ web applications that students today are using.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:20 am
I would like to have students work on responses to current problems in the news using PodCasting. I would also like to have students create short videos in response to questions and situations that arise in classroom discussions.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:20 am
Right now I like the idea of using wikis (perhaps to make novel studies), webquests, blogs…I like the idea of podcasts but know very little about them. This is all speculation depending on the grades and subjects that I teach. I am sure this class will give me many new ideas.
August 14th, 2008 at 10:22 am
As an educator dealing with teacher training with pre-service teacher candidates, my focus is to launch a podcast website that will feature a series of audio podcasts which will profile both current students and graduates…profiling their “story” about their experiences of using educational technology to support their teaching practices…others can log in and listen “live” from the site…or download onto their iPods and listen “off-line”…essentially the podcast will allow other interested educators to learn from others experiences, share ideas, successes, challenges.
A sample podcast site which I like is: pdtogo.com/smart
August 14th, 2008 at 10:22 am
I have made it a personal/professional goal to make better use of podcasting and blogs in my teaching. I have recently added a space for blogging on my website and I look forward to seeing and “feeling” the impact of this.
August 21st, 2008 at 10:48 am
my teacher told me to visit your site, I find it great
August 21st, 2008 at 10:48 am
I’m not sure. That what I’m hoping to determine by attending this course. It all looks quite interesting and powerful at this time…Ann
August 21st, 2008 at 10:49 am
I am interested in the viability of using blogs and wikis in my classroom as a method of engaging students in creating projects online. Also, I would like to know more about the other applications in Web 2.0
August 21st, 2008 at 10:49 am
my teacher told me to visit your site, I find it great too
August 21st, 2008 at 10:49 am
I’d like to use podcasting, wikis, blogs…and lots of other “stuff”. I need to learn how to use it all effectively before I can really determine which will be the best.
August 21st, 2008 at 10:49 am
I would like to use pod/web casts and have this technology readily available in the classroom.
August 21st, 2008 at 10:50 am
still wondering
August 21st, 2008 at 10:50 am
Currently working on a website and would like to find a way to incorporate at least one of the web 2.0 features discussed today into the curriculum this year as a start.
August 21st, 2008 at 10:52 am
???
August 21st, 2008 at 10:52 am
I am exploring the various web applications and would like to learn what each has to offer. It is interesting to consider how these applications may be used to enhance the classroom learning environment.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:51 pm
i think i would try to use teh animoto and video applications to enhance learning.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:51 pm
Maybe facebook
August 27th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
i will use all applications we discussed….then explore more of them!!
August 28th, 2008 at 10:28 am
Still looking and learning
August 28th, 2008 at 10:29 am
I think blogs would be a great thing to use for journal entries and updates.
August 28th, 2008 at 10:29 am
I’m not a very tech savy person, however I do understand that children today are very tech savy and are probably more comfortable with technology, so i hope to eventually use it in every way possible
August 28th, 2008 at 1:16 pm
I love the idea of blogs because it encourages children to practice their computer skills, as well as their literacy development. Other than that, I’m not entirely sure what else is applicable to PJ but I’m excited to learn more!
August 28th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
There is so much to choose from! I hope to use blogs now that I have been introduced to them, maybe have a website. I know there are all kinds of education software that we can use too, so I am hoping to use that too.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
there are so many different kinds of applications out there!!! i think that i need to research more before making a choice. but i would like to use a wide varitey of applications.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
I WILL HAVE TO JUMP IN AND LEARN ALL THIS STUFF - I’M A DINOSAUR!!!!
August 28th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
research on the web, blogs, podcasting
but I won’t rely on it as the only means of teaching as most schools in my board and the students on the opposite side of the technological divide.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
Podcasts, e-mailing & blogs are all excellent things I plan to use.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:19 pm
not sure what i would use but i am interested in learning more.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:20 pm
I will use whatever seems appropriate for the lesson and will engage the children the most such as pod casts, blogs, and others.
August 28th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
Blogs can be great reflective tools, can be safe forums for students to communicate and do group work, and can also be used as management tools (post homework, assignment deadlines, etc.). It’d be fun to add audio and video clips to make it interactive; read-along stories are FUN.
August 29th, 2008 at 10:20 am
The obvious choice is email. It’s a great way to stay in touch outside of class and it’s relatively safe and secure.
August 29th, 2008 at 10:21 am
After seeing the video at the beginning of class I see that there are many ways to incorporate technology into the classroom. There are many simple ways such as allowing use of cells and ipods. It will all depend on my ability to also use it!
August 29th, 2008 at 10:21 am
None, but I am open minded.
August 29th, 2008 at 10:22 am
I will teach music and would love to be able to use technology in the music class to make learning music more interesting. Perhaps we could watch music video’s online, I would love to learn many applications of the web to use within the classroom
August 29th, 2008 at 10:22 am
what the heck is a web application anyway?
August 29th, 2008 at 10:22 am
Physics applications so that my students can experiment with different physical conditions.
August 29th, 2008 at 10:24 am
I plan on making very good use of many web applications. In order to better answer this question I know that I need to do much more research on the topic.
August 29th, 2008 at 10:24 am
I am excited to use music, ipods - podcasts in class lessons. Ipods seem to be most students favourite toy (next to their cell phone). The information learned will be more interesting by including this fav tool/toy.
August 29th, 2008 at 10:25 am
Visual art is hands on learning/teaching as well as theory. I want to teach my students how to use the proper web site to do their research. I also want them to be able to view art works that they may not find in books and create work using technology as well as traditional methods.
August 29th, 2008 at 1:28 pm
I think a website, if managed properly, could be a useful tool.
August 29th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
I am not too familiar with web applications, but I am interested in the use of blogging in the classroom. I think this will be an excellent way to communicate with students. I would also like to learn more about podcasts. Hopefully all of this knowledge will come with more workshop training!!
August 29th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
I would like to try to find a way to incorporate a professionally safe Facebook group for group discussions and for me to answer any questions.
August 29th, 2008 at 1:29 pm
I think it would be great to teach students about the validity of websites. I would like to run them through activities where they can learn which websites are accurate when attempting to use the internet for research projects.
August 29th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
As a potential english teacher, the only online applications I have in mind so far would be research tools, and databases. I am not knowledgeable about other online tools useful to an english class at this point; but my mind is open.
August 29th, 2008 at 1:30 pm
I’m going to teach english, so I’d love to encourage students to create video presentations (podcasts?) of the texts we’re reading. This way the students can get really creative… hopefully
August 29th, 2008 at 1:31 pm
A website, pod casts, Youtube, ezines and also news blogs and articles.
August 29th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
I would like my own website for my students and their parents so that I could keep them up to date on lessons and events. Blogging could be useful for students to discuss lesson topics or ask questions, and perhaps podcasts could be used for lessons that need lots of visual cues.
